The Glenfiddich 50 Year Old is a golden-amber whiskey worth a whopping Rs 20 lakh—only 50 bottles are produced each year
A bottle of Glenfiddich’s prized Glenfiddich 50 Year Old is now on Mumbai Duty Free’s listing.
With only 450 bottles of the Glenfiddich 50 Year Old ever produced, it is Glenfiddich’s most expensive and precious expressions of single malt ever bottled. Every year, since 2009, the label releases 50 bottles for sale. Last year marked Glenfiddich’s 125th anniversary and the fifth year of the 50 Year Old. To commemorate both the occasions, the label collaborated with sixth-generation silversmiths from the Thomas Fattorini family, to create a special sterling silver bottle collar for the whiskey.
The bottles and cases of Glenfiddich 50 Year Old have been elegantly designed, with cues taken from the brand’s 125-year-old history. The individually numbered, hand-blown bottles are set in hand-stitched, leather-bound cases, inspired by the personal ledgers of Glenfiddich’s pioneering forefather, William Grant.
Accompanying the bottle is a leather-bound book, which features a detailed account of the whiskey’s rich history and stories of the expert craftsmen who nurtured it. Each book also contains a certificate of authenticity signed by Charles Gordon, Life President of William Grant & Sons, and the craftsmen whose stories are a part of the book.
