The airline will also use a unique tool to calculate the correct timings for imsak and iftar mid-air, so you don’t miss Maghrib ki namaaz
Emirates’ signature Ramadan service is back this year, with a special list of meals, entertainment and service for the holy month.
The special meals are available to passengers across all cabin classes on select Emirates flights that coincide with iftar times. This includes flights to and from the Gulf and Indian region as well as flights catering to Umrah groups travelling to Jeddah and Medina. During the holy month, cold meals will be served in lieu of a hot one on all flights to Jeddah and Medina, including Umrah day flights.
Ground staff will provide customers with special date boxes and water at boarding gates, should they break their fast before getting on board.
Emirates’ iftar boxes include sumptuous options such as Couscous Salad, Roasted Chicken, Spinach Fatayer, assorted sweets, dates, laban (a milk-based beverage) and water. Customers can take these boxes away if they wish. The menus will be refreshed mid-Ramadan.
Emirates’ ice system will feature special religious programmes including A’aelat Ramadan Kareem, Fa Esaloahililthekir and Al Baqeyat Al Salehat, as well as Ramadan entertainment such as BouTbei, As-hab Al Hemam and Hayat Thaneya.
In a press release, Emirates says that they use a unique tool to calculate the correct timings for imsak (the time to commence fasting) and iftar, while in-flight. The aircraft’s longitude, latitude and altitude help calculate the exact Ramadan timings accurately. When the sun sets, the captain will inform passengers of the iftar time.
Dedicated prayer rooms are also available at Emirates lounges across airports. Arabic coffee, dates and sweets will be served to guests and visitors at the lounge.
